Your Chair Is An Investment

Once you have completed your training to become an esthetician and passed your state boards you will be anxious to find a spa,  get an Esthetician Chair and start making some money of your own.  You will either have to find a spa that is already in business or start a business of your own.  In either case you are about to enter an exciting and rewarding career.

Most existing spas will have a space that is either partially or completely equipped for you to step into. When you get your assignment the first thing you will want to do is check our your space.  Is there an Esthetician chair in place for you to use?  Is the chair placed so that you can have access to it and the other equipment in the room.  Esthetician chairs differ from manufacturer to manufacture and model to model.  This chair may be similar to the one you trained on or it may be completely different.  If the Esthetician Chair is new to you take some time to get to know how it works.  How does it recline?  How do you return it to the upright position? Do the arm rests drop for ease of entry?  Are the leg rests adjustable.?  Where is the paper roll and is it easily accessible with a client in your chair?  Bring in a friend or invite a co-worker to help you learn your chair.  When you first client sits down it you will feel much more comfortable if you can operate the chair like a professional.

If you have chosen to work for yourself or if the spa where you are going to work does not have a chair you will be faced with buying your own.  An Esthetician Chair can be a sizable expense for a person just starting out. You will find that professional grade chairs will run you anywhere from $250.00 to as much as $5000.00.  Your main interest will be in getting one within your budget that is sturdy and safe to use.  Check out the Esthetician Chair that you are about to purchase in the same manner as you would have checked one provided to you by an employer.

Your Esthetician Chair will probably be your second biggest expense after your education.  Select it carefully and use it wisely.  With the proper care such as cleaning and routine maintenance a good chair will last you throughout your career.
